Cheavar A. Blair was born and raised in Jamaica until I was ten years old, after which, I moved to Waukegan, IL. He received his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in Biology. Currently, Cheavar is a fourth year graduate student in the department of physiology at the University of Kentucky. Upon completion of his doctorate degree, he will be the first African American male to receive a PhD from the physiology department. Cheavar A. Blair serves as the graduate student representative for the LSAMP program at the University of Kentucky. Mr. Blair was recently awarded the Lyman T. Johnson fellowship, which is awarded to graduate students who have met a certain academic requirement and contribute directly to the University of Kentucky’s interest in promoting diversity.
