Eileen S. Cadel is a 2014-2018 Self Graduate Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in bioengineering. She received a B.S. (2014) in biomedical engineering from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia. As an undergraduate, Cadel interned for the Wallace H. Coulter Program for Translational Research, worked to commercialize six devices, and was an active member of the Cavalier Marching Band. Since her arrival at the University of Kansas, Cadel has worked as a graduate research assistant, served as an engineering Graduate Ambassador, and been an officer in the Graduate Engineering Association. She has also performed research in the Spine Bio mechanics lab, focusing on product design and development. Cadel hopes to impact medical device development either through a start-up or industry employment.
