Mei-Ling Bermúdez was born and raised in the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Master degree in Biochemistry at the University of Puerto Rico. As she was very interested in the doctoral program in Environmental Genetics and Molecular Toxicology of the University of Cincinnati, in 2012 to continue her graduate studies. Currently, her dissertation research focuses on mechanism based interventions that may halt or delay Parkinson’s disease progression, searching for the benefit of the patients. In addition, she’s working as a Graduate Assistant for Recruitment and Retention Efforts for Latino students; a position that helps her to serve the Latino community and the university as well.
