Stephen R. Cox

Since 1994, Stephen R. Cox has served as the Co-Principal Investigator, Project Director of the Greater Philadelphia Region Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (Philadelphia AMP) funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Philadelphia AMP is a tri-state alliance of nine higher education institutions hosted at Drexel University whose mission is to substantially increase the quantity and quality of underrepresented minority students receiving baccalaureate degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and subsequently, entering graduate school to attain doctoral degrees. Cox received his BS degree in Physics and Atmospheric Sciences and MS degree in Biophysics and Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University, and began his professional career at General Electric Company as a Re-Entry Physicist, publishing a number of research papers on the thermo chemistry of ballistic projectiles in the journal of Aero-physics and Astrophysics. He was also honored as a 2014 Black Engineer of the Year (BEYA) Award recipient.
