Dr. Audeen Fentiman is currently the Associate Dean for Graduate Education and Interdisciplinary Programs, College of Engineering, at Purdue University. Dr. Fentiman has been heavily involved in designing and implementing programs to prepare and recruit students from underrepresented groups for graduate and undergraduate programs in STEM disciplines. While at Ohio State University, she served as the first Associate Dean of Engineering for Outreach and Special Programs, overseeing and empowering the Minority Engineering and Women in Engineering Programs, and coordinating efforts of industry, university, and public schools to implement programs that provide K-12 students, particularly those in urban schools, with opportunities to build their math and science skills.
Audeen recently finished a 3-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Nuclear Society, a society of over 10,000 nuclear professionals. She has served as a member of the ANS President’s Task Force to develop the last two strategic plans for that organization. She was Chair of the ANS Planning Committee and oversaw implementation of the first strategic plan prior to becoming a member of the Board. Dr. Fentiman also has management experience both in industry and in academia and is quite familiar with talent acquisition and development.
She is a dedicated champion of engineering education and has received several awards for her efforts, including the ASEE’s Sharon Keillor Award as North America outstanding woman engineering educator in 2002. She is particularly effective in building industry/university partnerships to support educational programs.
Dr. Fentiman received her both her masters and Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from The Ohio State University.
