Alan C. Mingo

Alan C. Mingo is a proven executive with over 23 years of Systems Development and IT Services experience. He brings a track record of success in complex program management, global systems/application migration, process transformation and financial management in the Automotive, Health and Learning industries. Mr. Mingo’s technical and executive experiences span applications management services; mainframe and PC hardware systems development, test, release to manufacturing and field support and web-based integrated e-commerce solution development and global deployment/maintenance. He is Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation Certified. Throughout his career, Mr. Mingo has demonstrated an ability to drive application and product development, manage complex integration projects, and improve operational efficiencies.
Mr. Mingo is currently Vice President, Applications Services in IBM’s Global Business Services Division. In this role, Mr. Mingo is the executive responsible for a portfolio of IBM’s services business that includes I/T outsourcing for IBM’s General Business Sector focused on small-to-medium clients in North America and a worldwide services team based in 11 countries that develops learning content for traditional instructor-led and e-learning solutions for clients and IBM internal use.
Alan received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Computer Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY in 1984 and 1985 respectively. Alan completed his graduate studies at RPI as a GEM Fellow. He started his career at IBM in 1985 as a Senior Associate Engineer working in the IBM Fellow Group in Poughkeepsie, NY. He then moved to Large Systems Development and became a VLSI Chip Development manager in 1990.
In 1997, Alan was named Director of Aptiva Development in IBM’s Personal Systems Group in Raleigh, NC. Mr. Mingo was the executive responsible for the worldwide development of IBM’s Award-winning Aptiva line of home computers.
In 1999, Alan was named Director, Business Partner/Commercial e-business Solutions focused on developing the e-commerce web sites used by over 12,000 of IBM’s business partners worldwide. In 2002 he was named as the AMS Senior Delivery Project Executive for an outsourcing contract for a major health care provider.
In 2005, Mr. Mingo was appointed as the Director and Senior Delivery Project Executive responsible for the global transition and migration of application development and maintenance activities for over 350 systems supporting the world-wide parts sales, services and warranty operations for a major automotive manufacturer. In this role, he led all aspects of application transition to IBM including staffing ramp of over 300 resources in 11 countries, application knowledge transfer from incumbent suppliers and assumption of production support for the application portfolio.
In December, 2007 he was named Vice President and Sr. Project Executive, responsible for IBM’s multi-year service contract for a large health care insurance provider. In that role he led a successful “Co-Source” effort to transform the client’s I/T organization enabling them to achieve up to 80% improvements in productivity, quality and business partner satisfaction. He was named to his current position in March, 2008.
Mr. Mingo serves as a member of the Industry Advisory Board for the Department of Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering at his Alma matter, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Alan is married with three children and lives in Canton, Connecticut near Hartford. He was a concert violinist and enjoys scouting, cycling and musical activities with his family.
