Veronica Nelson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey and her Master of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineer with a concentration in Robotics from Howard University in Washington, District of Columbia. Nelson received the National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science, Inc. (GEM) Fellowship and spent her summers during graduate study working for RCA David Sarnoff Research Center in Princeton, New Jersey.
Nelson joined Northrop Grumman Corporation in 1988 on the Graduate Student Rotation program. She has held a variety of mechanical, manufacturing and process engineering positions of increasing responsibility in Northrop Grumman's Baltimore-based Electronic Systems sector in the Automated Manufacturing Operations areas. In 2006, Nelson was promoted to Manager of the Professional Development Program (PDP). The Professional Development Program (PDP) is an 18-month rotational assignment program for recent college graduates interested in Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management positions. Veronica Nelson currently works as the Career Pathways Program and Diversity Initiatives Manager in the Human Resources – Talent Acquisition organization. She is currently responsible for interfacing with employees to provide professional career guidance and support of their career path within the Sector and Corporation. She also functions as the sector’s liaison to several Universities to expand our partnership and strengthen the pipeline of technical diverse talent they provide and their understanding of Northrop Grumman Corporation as a preferred employer.
Veronica Nelson was the 2007 Women of Color Technology Award recipient for Educational Leadership – Corporate Promotion of Education and the 2009 Black Engineer of the Year Award recipient for Educational Leadership – Promotion of Higher Education. She has a passion for helping others along their Career Path at Northrop Grumman. She also has a passion for giving back and working with K – 12 students to introduce them to the wonderful world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
