What is the cost of membership for my organization?

GEM Employer Members provide a top-level commitment to the GEM Consortium and recognize the Fellowship Programs as an important vehicle for the GEM Fellow's personal development and academic achievement.

Each Employer Member appoints a well-qualified Board Representative who understands and is interested in the objectives of the GEM Consortium. The representative is skilled in human relations and has solid knowledge of their organization, its practices, procedures, and personnel. The Board Representative has energy and interest in promoting GEM programs and participating in the GEM Fellow selection process.

What your contribution supports:

• Companies and universities each pay a $1,000 per year sustaining membership fee. The collaboration of company and university members makes The GEM Consortium successful.
  
  
• A contribution of $30,000 supports two MS candidates. The students accepting the GEM fellowship agree to work as summer interns for a company member while completing their MS studies. This usually results in two internship assignments with the company: one prior to entering the master's program and the other after completing one year of the program. Students are paid at the normal summer intern rates for the company. This is an excellent opportunity for companies to support these talented students. We hope you will also agree to accept summer interns at your company.
  
  
• A contribution of $45,000 supports two Ph.D. candidates. The candidates are pursuing doctoral degrees in engineering or science disciplines. A paid summer internship is required prior to entering a doctoral program. Again, this is an excellent opportunity for companies to support these talented students.
  
  
• Additional opportunities exist to support additional MS fellows (two MS fellows) by paying $15,000 for each additional fellow. Companies may increase the Ph.D. support over the initial $45,000 (two Ph.D. fellows) by paying $22,500.

Application for GEM Consortium Membership

To become a GEM Consortium member, employers agree to make an annual contribution plus provide an internship experience for at least two beginning students each year and continuing internship experiences for all returning fellows who have not completed their degrees. Agreement forms will be provided to new consortium members during the application process.
