Employer Members to GEM's Consortium make up the most successful Engineering and Science corporations in the world. Major corporations like Ford Motor Company, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Microsoft, IBM, and 3M Company maximize their recruiting of top talent by using GEM programs and resources. GEM has provided the opportunity to engage these top corporations to over 2,400 GEM Alumni, many of whom used their GEM internship to gain employment from these companies. GEM's Employer Members play a key role in continuing the success of GEM and our fellows.

How Can GEM Benefit Organizations

GEM is an extremely effective way to support the development of minority graduate students. GEM fellowships provide the ideal venue for tomorrow's science and technical leaders to gain experience-up close and personal-at your company while working as summer interns.

For each GEM MS or Ph.D. contribution, you have the opportunity to:

• Support a large, pre-screened group of African American, American Indian, Latino, Puerto Rican and other Hispanic American students in engineering and scientific disciplines.
• Work in collaboration with universities to support these students as they pursue advanced degrees.
• Employ these students as summer interns where they can gain hands-on experience and see, first hand, the career opportunities your company offers when they complete their studies.

Students who are sponsored as GEM fellows tend to focus on employment opportunities at GEM Member companies and organizations.

Each year, the number of well-qualified candidates for GEM Fellowships exceeds our ability to grant MS and Ph.D. fellowships. Those students not selected for GEM Fellowships are available to you as an employer member to consider to fill engineering and scientific positions throughout your organization.
