This year marks the 35th Anniversary of the National GEM Consortium. We will celebrate this milestone with a 35th Anniversary Fundraising Gala on Friday August 5, 2011. GEM's President, Alfred Grasso will host a CEO Roundtable, and Georgia Tech's President, Dr. Bud Peterson will convene a University President Roundtable on Thursday, August 4, 2011. And of course, we will hold our staple events such as membership workshops, the annual board meeting, and student events such as the technical competition and FFP.
Register today to receive the lowest rate. Please remember your instituion committed to send at least one representative annually to the GEM Board Meeting. The GEM hotel block of $189 at the Gaylord is guaranteed until July 5, 2011. The Gaylord will honor this rate after 7/5 if rooms are still available.

Join University Presidents and Chancellors, representing some of the top academic institutions in our the country, as they discuss how maintaining a diverse and inclusive stream of domestic graduate-level talent in STEM can enhanced their campuses and benefit the larger workforce. The roundtable will address the current state of the US workforce with regards to competitiveness in technology and innovation, and the role that engineers and scientists with graduate level degrees in STEM plays in advancing our impact on global innovation in the US. Through the lively, interactive discussion, we will add our voices to the national conversation on the importance of diversity and inclusion in driving innovation in the United States.

Come celebrate GEM's 35th anniversary with NPR host Maria Hinojosa! For 25 years, Maria Hinojosa has helped tell America's untold stories and brought to light unsung heroes in America and abroad. In April 2010, Hinojosa launched The Futuro Media Group with the mission to produce multi-platform, community-based journalism that respects and celebrates the cultural richness of the American Experience. She is currently reporting for Frontline on Immigration Detention.

Dr. Robin Croger, GEM Alum, named Dean of Engineering, NC A&T
North Carolina A&T State University Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. has appointed Dr. Robin N. Coger as dean of the College of Engineering, effective July. Coger replaces Dr. Winser Alexander, who served as interim dean of the College.
"Dr. Coger is an accomplished researcher who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the engineering field. She is a visionary leader who has the ability to strengthen and enhance the educational, research, and outreach programs in our College of Engineering, which plays a vital role in assisting us in our efforts to fully realize our mission as well as to assist the university in more successfully contributing to the economic competitiveness of the Triad region and the state," said Martin.
