The GEM fellowship allowed me to focus on my research and the funding was viewed very favorably by MIT's professors. The professors contacted me in addition to my own search for thesis advisors, greatly broadening my opportunities to pursue what I was interested in.

2006 GEM Annual Report Now Available

2007 GEM National ConferenceThirty years ago, a dedicated group of individuals came together and made a pledge for the good of a nation: a pledge to help ensure that underserved populations in the United States had access to engineering education at the graduate level. This happened when employers and universities came together to create the National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering, Inc.

Over the past three decades, the organization has helped thousands from ethnic groups historically underrepresented in the engineering, physical science, and life science disciplines overcome one of the most pervasive barriers to pursuing an advanced degree: identifying and securing funding for graduate education.  As GEM's unwavering commitment continues, in the 2006 Annual Report GEM provides an overview of its proud history, 2006 fellowship statistics, recent staff and location changes, and much more.  Click read more to download a pdf of the 2006 Annual Report.
