For the first time in GEM's history we will host a Congressional Reception on Capitol Hill to honor representatives of congress who have made significant contributions in keeping an advocacy agenda in congress as it relates to access to STEM opportunities for underrepresented communities throughout the United States. Given this pivotal time in history, with the Presidential election just around the corner, GEM is playing an active role to ensure our country invests in technology and innovation. This is a must attend event to represent your institution and address your concerns to members of congress.

The congressional reception is the opening event before the board annual meeting held the next day. We will also offer two educational programs, GEM's Future Faculty and Professionals Symposium (FFP) and Getting Ready for an Advanced Degree laboratory (GRAD Lab). University and Employer members will have an opportunity to network with current and prospective graduate students at the speed interviewing lunch, an extremely popular event from last year's conference.

We encourage you to register for this event and book your hotel room today! Rooms are limited so please make sure you book your room before our rate cut-off on August 20, 2008.

University of Iowa GRAD Lab Postponed

Register Today!

The University of Iowa GRAD Lab was scheduled for June 18, 2008 in Iowa City, Iowa. As you know, Iowa is in a state of emergency due to flooding. We look forward to rescheduling this program once the water recedes. Please keep the GEM representatives and students, in the state of Iowa and other Midwest states affected by the storms, in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  As you go about your day, please reach out to our GEM Family that have been affected.  No one chooses for events like this to happen, but when they do happen its the "family" that lends a word of encouragement or a "Shout Out" that makes a world of difference!
