Meet the New GEM Executive Committee

At the 2007 GEM National Conference several Executive Committee members were elected during the GEM Annual Board Meeting.  Dr. Juan Andrade of the US Hispanic Leadership Institute was voted in as President. Dr. Andrade plans to give an outsider perspective to his new GEM leadership role, "The National GEM Consortium is the premiere non-profit in providing graduate access opportunities to minorities in engineering and science. I plan to provide access opportunities to new communities, to new leadership, and to be a change agent in a fast moving industry. In partnership with my predecessor Dr. Ronald Goldsberry and under the leadership of GEM's Executive Director, Michele Lezama, great opportunities are ahead for the Consortium."  Click here to see pictures and read the biographies of the GEM Executive Committee.

In addition, several attendees at the conference volunteered for open standing chair positions. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Mark Vaughn, Corning Inc., Mariah Zabruskie, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Rita Burrell, Mississippi State University, and as a partnership with the National Association of Multicultural Engineering Program Advocates (NAMEPA), Carolyn Vallas will also join us as a Standing Chair.
