Alumni Success Stories

Featured Alumni

Today an increasing percentage of underrepresented minorities with advanced degrees in science or engineering were once GEM Fellows. The GEM Alumni, more than 5,000 strong, are a vital part of the continued success of the GEM Fellowship program. In addition to supporting the Alumni-sponsored Fellowship, many volunteer as GEM Ambassadors at their place of employment and participate as speakers at GEM GRAD Labs, FFP symposiums and informational sessions held around the country.

Below is just a small sample of our very successful alumni. If you represent a corporation consider joining GEM today to hire a very top performing student as an intern, maybe they will be your next CEO, similar to Ursula Burns who started her employment at Xerox as a GEM intern! Or perhaps you represent a University looking to diversify your STEM research laboratory with top performing domestic talent? Read Darryll Pines’ or Keith Hargrove’s bios to see how a GEM Fellow became Dean of Engineering. Or perhaps you are a student who is considering graduate school? Read a few of the bios of the GEM Fellows below…we hope they will inspire you!
